Set in inner city Chicago, DeANNA, 17, a young hottie seduces MELVIN, 17, the class nerd under a viaduct. She kisses him and coaxes him into taking off his pants only to reveal that she has set him up for a cruel April Fools [Day] joke. DeAnna, joined by her co-conspirators MISSY, 17, the goody-two-shoe of the bunch, her boyfriend MALIK also 17, EVA, 17, the hip-hop diva, SCOOP, 17, the jock and DIEGO, 17, the bad-boy continue to taunt Melvin. Missy, now feeling a little bad for Melvin stops the taunting, but Diego being the resident jerk that he is presses the issue. Things spiral out of control and Melvin is accidentally killed.
Missy’s first instinct is to call her father who is a police detective and let him handle things. Diego however, is completely against it. He points out that if they call the police they will all go to jail and he’s not doing any time like his pops. Malik insists that it was an accident and that no one is going to jail with Diego countering that they may not go down for murder, but they will go down for manslaughter. The group is in disarray.
Diego then comes up with the idea that they can make Melvin’s death look like a gang shooting. Missy is totally against it yet the others, feeling as if they don’t have much of a choice, decide to go along with Diego's plan. And although Missy makes it clear that she doesn’t want any part of it, DeAnna points out that she is already a part of it so she may as well get with the program. Ultimately they drag Melvin’s body into the bushes and Diego shoots the corpse. One by one each of the teens walk away not saying a word and make a pact to forever keep silent about the night’s events.
ONE YEAR LATER, on APRIL FOOLS DAY each one of the teens are targeted and killed in succession. Missy’s father, DETECTIVE COMBS (Obba Babatunde) and his partner DETECTIVE WARD (Darrin Henson), are working the case. They put the pieces together and it becomes a race against time to find out who’s behind the killing, and to stop them by day’s end – before they can take Missy’s life too.
